The pressure on students is immense and although inclusivity is at the heart of all we do, we cannot ignore the gender gap nor the necessity to support individual groups. Our A:I staff have been incredibly successful in broadening the horizons of groups of students whilst focussing on longer-term goals.  Every student matters and recognising their strengths is key to success.

In response requests from school and college leaders A:I have developed a mentoring programme for male students that raises aspirations for the future.  It encompasses the importance of using education to their advantage, refocusing mindsets to develop a pathway that is realistic and achievable. Mentoring looks at external factors such as role models, community theory, and society but builds a picture of how education can change the future of individuals and groups. The feedback from those schools already engaging demonstrates the positive attitude of students who have developed a picture of their own pathway. Empowering….
