MY BACKGROUND
Hailing from a Yorkshire coastal town, in an area of extreme POLAR4 deprivation, I left school at 16 to join the Royal Air Force. In my thirties, I worked for multi-national companies, BMW and Jaguar, before "falling" into the education sector. Enjoying every day, initially as a Cover Supervisor and PE Tutor, I progressed to Head of Year and an extremely successful Head of House. Qualifying as a School Business Manager and more recently performing as a strong and valued governor in safeguarding and curriculum provides me with a diverse range of skills within education.
I firmly believe my time in Her Majesty's Forces and working for global brands in industry provided experience, skills, and knowledge to support people of all ages. My personal passion will always centre on sport, STEM and associated branches but inspiring students and adults both in and out of school is the goal.
Lucky enough to have enjoyed a varied and colourful career, now is the time to use my life experiences to raise aspirations in successive generations.

WORKING WITH STUDENTS, SCHOOLS AND HEI's
Employed initially in a secondary school in both classroom and pastoral roles, I wanted to broaden my scope in both age range and institution. A successful application to support a national programme in schools, raising aspirations towards higher education and further study was the perfect solution. Since 2017 I have worked across 5 local authorities, in secondary, and tertiary education settings, with 15,000+ learner engagements.

MY BACKGROUND
I grew up in Kingston Upon Hull, which has been reported to be one of the most disadvantaged cities in England. I always knew I had a passion for science and wanted to progress to University. However, being a female in STEM, a first generation University student and not knowing anybody in the medical/science field, it was not always easy and wasn't the path many believed I would take. I thrive in the knowledge that the research I do within public health will make a difference to the lives of the people I study and engage with, but also the work I do with young people will inspire them to take every opportunity out there and to work hard towards their futures. After all, they are the next generation of leaders, doctors and policy makers.

WORKING WITH STUDENTS, SCHOOLS AND HEI's
Alongside Craig, I completed four years as an Collaborative Outreach Coordinator that focused on raising the aspirations of young people in the Humber region. I mainly conducted workshops, mentoring and 1-to-1 sessions focusing on their exam preparation, transition to FE and HE and to develop resilience and the transferable skills needed for employability and independent living post leaving school.
